Located in Gold Beach, Oregon: Pippin is approximately 10 years old. She is a dun colored grade Welsh pony mare, 11 hands, 450-500 lbs. Her current owner rescued her from a bad situation (tied up in a field with 2 stallions, luckily she didn't get pregnant). We have investigated her past a bit and found out that she went from one bad home to another. We've heard stories of being hit for not standing still, being ridden into a fence and left there saddled when she panicked, etc. She remains cautious and shy because of that, though she's improved a lot since her current person rescued her. An absolutely sweet mare, no vices. Does not bite, kick, or crib. She is becoming more friendly and she is curious and smart. She stands for farrier, grooming, loads, leads, though patience is required. Has had some groundwork and we've had a child on her (no saddle). We were told she's been ridden, but haven't pressured her for that.
She is blind in her right eye as a result of an old injury. The eye was removed with surgery and replaced with a prosthetic eye. She is fairly relaxed on her blind side. She is up to date on trimming, teeth, shots and worming and all her medical records come with her.
Pippin is not a beginner's pony but could be a fun 4-H project for driving, jumping, riding with an experienced youth. She'd be a great project horse for a adult who wants to do driving and in-hand competitions. Pippin loves to jump on her own and has a lovely, forward gait.
